it was sun fall when they used the ruler to tear it open.




“chewed down fingernails,

broken clips, and

fallen photos from behind the wardrobe”


and without watch or handbag they went.


shut eyes and crawling-


past torn ankle,

            pulled spleen,

            bruised shin,

knee scape,

skin stretched.


until it was there.


dripping currents of opaque beams of yellow light.


i’ll tell you,

i really have been feeling warm.
