"Currents"

By Anna Harberger

it was sun fall when they used the ruler to tear it open.

found:

“chewed down fingernails,

broken clips, and

fallen photos from behind the wardrobe”

and without watch or handbag they went.

shut eyes and crawling-

past torn ankle,

            pulled spleen,

            bruised shin,

knee scape,

skin stretched.

until it was there.

dripping currents of opaque beams of yellow light.

i’ll tell you,

i really have been feeling warm.
