Prom 2019: Looking fly on the fly

By Sam Goodman

While the Prom countdown is inevitable for most high school seniors, I arrived home from an international trip 3 days before the event, still looking for a suit. A crisis? Perhaps. Luckily fast fashion exists and I was able to find a fit that was fly on the fly from sunnies to shoes.

HAIR: Every step of the way a new challenge was presented. The hair was a true crisis cause it was so long and wouldn’t stay styled. I eventually just let it dry and used some gel to supplement.

MAKEUP: To get a true matte complexion I used a Tarte primer and concealer. I paired that with a cream blush from Glossier (cloud paint) and Jeffree Star highlighter. I also used an Elf highlighter as a topper. For brows I used Glossier boy brow because I love the extra tint it adds and it keeps everything in place. For lips I used a light stain of Mac lipstick in shade Velvet Teddy. I set everything with Urban Decay All Nighter.

SUIT: I got the suit from ASOS and their sizing is so exact if fit PERFECTLY. Their shipping is also relatively fast and affordable. I wanted to stand out with the color and deviate from the traditional black and grey without going CRAZY. This light blue was stunn.

SHIRT: To be very honest, my mom ordered this turtleneck while I was away so shout out to her. Any old white turtleneck would do so don’t go crazy looking for something special.

RINGS: Recently, I found that jewelry is a really great way to individualize your outfit. Finding necklaces and rings that are meaningful to you ties the look all together. Just remember to look for Sterling Silver and don’t spend a fortune.

SHOES: I really did not want to be wearing uncomfortable dress shoes all night so I opted for the sneaker. I love these Nikes because they’re so simple and sleek.

SUNNIES: I got these from sunglasses spot for $5. I wear eyeglasses but I just had to take pics with these.
