Two Weeks of TV:

Your Go-to Spring Break Netflix Binge Guide

By Kendra Landau

End of the Fucking World

The End of the Fucking World is new to Netflix and has gotten an incredible response. Based on the comic book series by Charles Forsman, it revolves around a boy named James (Alex Lawther), who believes he is a psychopath and battles a constant urge to kill, and a girl named Alyssa (Jessica Barden), who struggles with teenage angst, her terrible stepfather, and her desire to reunite with her real dad. The story follows James and Alyssa as they go on a road trip full of crime and adventure, to find Alyssa’s dad. There is only 1 season so far but, hopefully there will be more from Netflix soon. The episodes are between 15 to 20 minutes, making it a very quick show to binge watch over the break. The ups and downs of the show will have you hooked from the first episode.

Dear White people

Dear White People touches on very real issues in society. It highlights prevalent societal issues that exist throughout America, especially on college campuses, such as white privilege and discrimination. There is only one season, but it has been renewed for a second season on Netflix. The episodes are around 30 minutes long, so you can definitely watch all of it over spring break. If you are looking for a show that captures serious issues in America in an entertaining form, you would undoubtedly enjoy this show.

Orange is the NEw Black

Orange is the New Black follows the story of  Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a privileged upper-middle class finance manager, whose criminal past catches up with her and she is sentenced to spend 15 months in prison. The show is based on the real Piper Chapman’s memoir of the same name. There are currently 5 seasons, but a new season is usually introduced in the summer. With about hour-long episodes, it requires more attention than the average show, but its attention to social issues, amazing cast, and myriad of awards make it worth the watch.

Grey's Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy has been on the air for 13 years and it has yet to disappoint. The show revolves around Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), whose mother was a legendary surgeon, and her group of friends as they make their way through internship and residency to become attending doctors. There are 13 seasons on Netflix and season 14 is on TV right now, but there is no way you can get through all 13 seasons over just spring break. From the first episode you will fall in love with the characters. The episodes are around 40 minutes, so, with dedication, it may be possible to finish around half of the show in total.
